About
The Idaho Piano Trio is a resident faculty ensemble of the Lionel Hampton School of Music, at the University of Idaho. Formed in 2013, the trio and its members (Giselle Hillyer, violin; Miranda Wilson, cello; Roger McVey, piano) regularly perform throughout the Pacific Northwest. All three members regularly perform as soloists, in addition to their chamber music activities.
Giselle Hillyer is Lecturer of Violin and Viola at the University of Idaho, and also serves as co-concertmaster of the Washington-Idaho Symphony. She has performed frequently with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, the Minnesota Orchestra, and the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. She is also a certified Suzuki teacher and teaches students from beginning to college level.
Miranda Wilson serves as Professor of Cello at the University of Idaho and Artistic Director of the Idaho Bach Festival. In addition to teaching and performing, Dr. Wilson is also active as a writer—she is a frequent contributor to Strings magazine, and has authored three books about cello playing.
Pianist Roger McVey is a Professor of Piano at the University of Idaho. He was a top prizewinner in the International Beethoven Competition, and has released six solo albums. Dr. McVey serves as a board member for the Idaho Music Teachers Association and the Washington State Music Teachers Association. He is a Steinway & Sons Hall of Fame Teacher.
In addition to the standard trio repertoire, the Idaho Piano Trio is committed to performing works by living composers, women composers, and underrepresented composers.
